Recharge Your Body and Mind with Whole Body Cryotherapy

“Whole-body cryotherapy has shown significant promise in reducing inflammation, accelerating recovery, and improving overall well-being. Its non-invasive nature and ability to stimulate physiological responses make it a valuable tool in both medical and wellness settings.”
— Dr. Giovanni Lombardi, Researcher in Sports Medicine

Whole body cryotherapy was originally developed in Japan in 1978 for the treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis. The technology was perfected and gained popularity with elite athletes in Europe during the 80’s as a means for healing, including pain management and rehabilitation, enabling them to recover faster, train harder and perform better.

Then in 2011, Mark Cuban bought a machine for the Dallas Mavericks and that was the year they won the NBA Championship so it garnered a lot of attention. Cryotherapy is continuing to gain popularity in the United States among doctors, chiropractors, physical therapists and professional sports organizations.

Think of cryotherapy as an upgraded ice bath — without the wet or the wait.

If you've ever seen athletes plunge into an ice bath after a grueling game, you already understand the basics of cryotherapy. Those icy soaks — usually lasting 6–8 minutes — are designed to reduce inflammation, prevent tissue breakdown, and boost circulation for faster recovery.

Whole body cryotherapy takes that same concept to a whole new (and much more comfortable) level.

Instead of submerging in cold water, you step into a chamber filled with ultra-cold, dry air — often below -200°F — for just 2–3 minutes.

At pH Labs, we offer the most advanced cryotherapy experience using the Cryobuilt Everest Peak electric chamber—providing a safer, more effective treatment without nitrogen gas or FDA warnings. Our technology ensures even cold distribution for a more comfortable and holistic therapy.

Cryotherapy at pH Labs may help you:

  • Relieve pain, soreness, and muscle spasms

  • Boost energy, endorphins, and mood

  • Strengthen your immune system

  • Enhance sleep and recovery

  • Support weight management by boosting metabolism

Safe, effective, and revitalizing—Whole Body Cryotherapy is a non-invasive way to feel your best naturally. Step into the cold and awaken your healthiest self.

Single Sessions

This 3-3 1/2 minute treatment can provide incredible benefits to your health and wellness. The treatment takes place in an enclosed Whole Body Cryo (WBC) chamber. Cooling your body down in the chamber is similar to an ice bath, but much faster and without the extremely cold water! The benefits are amazing, from reducing inflammation to helping you sleep better.

*Please note that 15 years old is the youngest age for Whole Body Cryotherapy. Younger clients may utilize Localized Cryotherapy.

What People Say

The science behind Whole Body Cryotherapy

Whole Body Cryotherapy (WBC) involves brief exposure to extremely cold temperatures, typically between –110°C and –140°C (–166°F to –220°F), for 2–3 minutes. This exposure triggers a series of physiological responses that may offer various health benefits.

1. Vasoconstriction and Vasodilation

Upon entering the cryotherapy chamber, the body's surface blood vessels constrict (vasoconstriction) to preserve core temperature. This response reduces blood flow to the skin and extremities. After exiting the chamber, vasodilation occurs, increasing blood flow and delivering oxygen and nutrients to tissues, which may aid in recovery and reduce inflammation.

2. Anti-Inflammatory Effects

WBC may reduce systemic inflammation by decreasing pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α and IL-1β, while increasing anti-inflammatory cytokines like IL-10. This modulation of the immune response can alleviate inflammation-related conditions.

3. Analgesic Effects

The extreme cold can numb nerve endings, reducing the transmission of pain signals. This analgesic effect may provide temporary relief from muscle soreness and joint pain.

4. Metabolic and Hormonal Responses

Exposure to cold temperatures can stimulate the release of norepinephrine, a hormone that may enhance alertness and mood. Additionally, WBC may increase metabolic rate, potentially aiding in weight management.

5. Potential Risks and Considerations

While WBC is generally considered safe for healthy individuals, it is essential to consult with a healthcare provider before starting treatment, especially for those with underlying health conditions. Some studies have reported minor adverse effects, such as skin irritation.

In summary, Whole Body Cryotherapy may offer benefits in reducing systemic inflammation, aiding metabolic health, enhancing recovery, and improving mental well-being.

Most Common Questions about WHOLE BODY CRYOTherapy

  • Cryotherapy is a treatment that exposes the body to extremely cold temperatures for a short period of time (typically 2–3 minutes). This exposure triggers a powerful healing response that reduces inflammation, boosts circulation, enhances recovery, and promotes overall well-being.

  • Cryotherapy may help with:

    • Reduced inflammation and pain

    • Faster muscle recovery

    • Boosted metabolism and calorie burn

    • Improved mood and mental clarity

    • Increased collagen production and skin tone

    • Enhanced sleep and energy levels

It’s used by athletes, wellness seekers, and those managing chronic pain or inflammation.

  • When your body is exposed to the cold, blood is redirected to vital organs to maintain core temperature. Once the session ends, fresh, oxygenated, and nutrient-rich blood rushes back to the tissues — supporting healing, reducing inflammation, and energizing the body.

  • A full-body cryotherapy session typically lasts 2 to 3 minutes. It’s quick but effective — and most clients report feeling refreshed and invigorated afterward.

  • It feels cold — very cold! But not wet or unbearable. Most clients describe it as a refreshing "deep chill" that leaves them feeling energized, clear-headed, and rejuvenated. Your body warms back up within minutes after stepping out.

  • Yes — when administered by trained professionals using proper protocols. At pH Labs, your safety is our priority. We’ll guide you through the process, ensure you’re comfortable, and monitor you the entire time.

  • Cryotherapy may be beneficial if you:

    • Have muscle soreness, joint pain, or inflammation

    • Want to support athletic performance and recovery

    • Are managing autoimmune or chronic inflammatory conditions

    • Are looking to boost your energy, mood, or sleep

    • Want glowing skin or a metabolism boost

It’s a simple way to give your body a reset — physically and mentally.

  • Cryotherapy is not recommended for individuals with severe cardiovascular issues, unmanaged high blood pressure, or certain neurological or cold-sensitive conditions. We'll review your health history before your first session to ensure it's a safe fit for you.

  • If you have experienced any of the following health conditions, we advise against  Cryotherapy treatment: Pregnancy, severe Hypertension (Blood Pressure> 180/100), acute or recent myocardial infarction, unstable angina pectoris, arrhythmia, symptomatic cardiovascular disease, cardiac pacemaker, peripheral arterial occlusive disease, venous thrombosis, acute or recent cerebrovascular accident, uncontrolled seizures, Raynaud’s Syndrome, tumor disease, symptomatic lung disorders, bleeding disorders, fever, severe anemia, infection, cold allergy, acute kidney and urinary tract diseases. Any client with a history of cardiac disease within the past 6 months will be required to have a physician's statement clearing them to get Whole Body Cryotherapy treatment.

  • Men wear dry boxers, shorts or briefs, while women can enter the chamber nude or with undergarments. It’s ok to wear minimal clothing such as a bra/underwear or bathing suit but the effects of full body cryotherapy work best with maximum skin exposure. We provide thermal gloves, socks and booties to protect the extremities from getting too cold. We also provide a robe or towel for comfort when entering and exiting the chamber.

  • Absolutely. You are in constant communication with the technician during the entire session. The door is never locked and you can exit the cryosauna at any time if you feel any distress or discomfort.

  • No — the procedure is completely dry and does not leave your skin wet whatsoever.

  • Yes, at your first session, we will take your blood pressure and review the physical readiness questionnaire to ensure you are a WBC candidate. You will also receive the proper protective wear for the body’s more temperature-sensitive tissues such as hands and feet. Additionally, moisture-stripping wipes are provided to remove any sweat or lotion from your body before entering the Cryochamber. We will adjust the height of the platform before every session to ensure you are able to breathe fresh air and speak to the cryo tech during the session.

  • With any exposure to extreme cold, there is a risk of skin irritation. It is important for you to have your skin dry and free of all lotions, oils and sweat. This will decrease the risk of any adverse reaction to the cold. Please refer to our full list of contraindications for other risk factors.

  • Absolutely! If you workout prior to your session, you can expect greater muscle and joint recovery due to the reduction in inflammation. If you workout post session, you can expect more energy, greater flexibility, more range of motion and a higher pain tolerance.

  • It varies person to person and depends on the results you seek and the condition being treated. But to experience cryotherapy at its maximum, we recommend 10 sessions within a 2-3 week period. It is safe to do up to two cryotherapy treatments max per day spaced six hours apart but is only recommended for those in heavy training or rehabilitation.

  • During each session the body releases endorphins, which are hormones that make you feel good and energetic. The buoyant effects from each session last at least six – eight hours and increase with the number of treatment sessions. Many clients have expressed that they have the best night of sleep after a Cryo session.

  • During cryotherapy, the body pulls the blood away from the extremities and into the core, therefore extremities are required to be covered and protected.

  • No. On the contrary, WBC will stimulate the body’s immune system which over time will help decrease the severity and frequency of colds and illness. We do not recommend that you go in the chamber while actively sick.

  • Yes. Do not enter a hot sauna or Jacuzzi for at least six hours. You should also minimize alcohol consumption for several hours following treatment.

  • Cryotherapy might be covered by some health insurance companies and we suggest inquiring with your provider to find out beforehand. If approved, we do not bill insurance so you will need to submit. You can however use your FSA/HSA accounts for whole body cryotherapy.

  • Not at all. If you are familiar with an ice bath that has direct contact with the skin and can be painful, cryotherapy is a dry, indirect contact. Due to the session only being three minutes max, the session is very tolerable. Towards the end of the session, you may experience ‘pins and needles’ sensation but it disappears immediately after the treatment. The process of Cryotherapy never freezes the skin or soft tissue; the sensation of coldness is what actually drives the systemic response.

  • It is recommended that clients be at least 15 years of age. If you are under the age of 18 years old and authorized parental/legal guardian signature is required.

  • Just book your session, give us a call, or walk into one of our locations. We’ll walk you through the experience and tailor it to your needs. First time? Don’t worry — we’re here to guide and support you.
